Hello All! Welcome back to my blog! Today I want to switch things up and talk about fashion and essentials that I think every career/working girl needs to have in their closet. Starting your professional life is already an overwhelming feeling, with thinking about what your new job will entail and how to navigate your new workplace with rules, relationships, and everything in between the thing that you want to worry about the least is what you will wear.
As silly as it may sound, whenever I have started a new job or have gone to a job interview I slightly stress out when it’s time to think about what I’ll wear. I’ve always looked to blogs for inspiration and guidance on what is appropriate and what is not. Now, this will definitely vary by profession. Some professions will require you to wear a full-on suit and look as professional as can be but, as time passes, more and more workplaces are opting for the business casual look.
Now, let me just put my two cents here and say that even if your workplace allows casual wear, in my opinion you should take that with a grain of salt and still try to look a bit more on the professional side than strictly casual (i.e. flip flops, hats, super ripped jeans etc.).
Anyways, today I want to share my list of things that I think everyone should have in their closet when they are at the starting point in their careers. Take this as your basic checklist that will get you going.
So, there you have it. I wish I would have had a list like this when I was starting my professional life. Again, when you are starting your professional life, the thing you should worry about the least is what you will wear so, being prepared is key. Also, keep in mind that thinking about what you’ll wear doesn’t have to be a daunting task. Make it fun and find pieces that will make you feel the best version of yourself. Trust me, when I’m dressed in nice clothes and I feel comfortable, I feel like I can conquer the world!
