I feel like January is the month where I do the least shopping ? I went to the mall this past weekend and I kid you not when I say that I didn’t see anything on sale. Plus, all the stores seemed pretty empty. Although winter doesn’t technically end until mid-March, living in Southern California, this weekend it seemed as though it was already here and we were heading into Summer, because the weather hit 90 degrees fahrenheit ?. So, as I made my way through the mall and browsed my favorite shoppings sites online, I realized that it is that time of the year where I no longer want to shop for sweaters (which I love so much) and am ready to start building my Spring wardrobe. So today, I thought I’d start prepping mentally for what I want my spring wardrobe to look like- especially since I’ll be spending a lot of time at home (as opposed to in the office since I’ll still be working from home for a few more months).
Converse Platform Sneakers
The first thing on my list are converse platform sneakers. I love pairing my white converse sneakers (the ones without the platform) with lots of outfits during the summer, so when I saw these I thought they would be a good addition to my upcoming Spring outfits ??♀️
Cute Sandals
Next on my list are cute sandals! I found these last year at Target (and they still have most sizes in-stock and on clearance) so this year I want to add a few more cute ones. I’m excited to see the new styles they will have in stock (hopefully soon!)
Dresses
Dresses! I honestly love wearing dresses! At one point in my life I thought that dresses were only meant to be worn for special occasions and boy was I wrong! Now, I want to wear them much more and am excited to add many more to my wardrobe. Some of my favorites are from old navy!
Basic Tops
During the spring and summer months I live in basic tops, but try to make them cute ha ha! Does that even make sense? This year I want to grow my very tiny collection. Like I mentioned above, since I’m still working from home I want to be comfy and have tops that I can switch out on a day-to-day basis. Some of my recent favorites are from American Eagle. I love their super-soft collection (top pictured below).
Shorts
Shorts are another clothing item that I used to only own 1-2 pairs of, but since last year I have grown my small collection. This year I want to do the same lol. I’ll be shopping at American Eagle for cute and comfy shorts, like the ones pictured below. I always try to look for shorts that aren’t too short ? Anyone else? ??♀️
Biker Shorts
On the topic of shorts, I want to invest in a few more biker-style shorts so that I can wear them on my daily walks and bike rides (which I plan to continue as the days get longer and the weather gets better.)
Ankle Length Jeans
As a petite gal, I’ve realized that the jeans that best flatter my figure are ankle style jeans. I now own about 3 pairs and I find that they are among my favorite jeans in my closet so, I’m hoping that I can add a few more pairs to my collection.
Light Summery Sweaters
Even though the weather will be changing, there will still be nights when it’s a little bit chilly and I want to wear some sort of sweater but not the super warm cozy-type so, I want to invest in sweaters that are light weight and feel comfy and cute!
Updated Mom Jeans
Another type of jeans that are very popular right now and that I don’t think will be going out of style anytime soon are mom jeans! I love me a good pair of mom-jeans and am hoping to find a pair or two more for the coming months!
Midi Skirts
Finally, the last piece of clothing on my list are mi-di skirts (like the one in the picture below). I’ve seen these styled all over Pinterest and I love them! They are a good extension of dresses and super comfy and versatile!
So, there you have it. This year I want to take a more organized approach when it comes to my shopping. I feel that in previous years I used to just buy things because I thought they were cute but never took the time to style them or think about where I would wear them to. This time around, when buying things I plan to create actual outfits for them and ensure I actually wear them and they not only sit in my closet.
